I'm Hungry!

I finished the last book of the Hunger Games trilogy series the other day.

Whew! All books were so exciting and thrilling to read that it only took me 8 days to finish all three. :)

Anyway, I am not an English major, and definitely not a master of words and creative writing. I am not sure if I will be giving the series some justice when I write my own 'review'.

IMO, Hunger Games and Catching Fire are far more exciting than the last book. I just didn't like how the story ended. There can even be a book 4. Hahaha!

I loved the twists and turns of the plot. I really had a hard time predicting what will come next. Page after page, the intensity level of the Hunger Games just keeps on increasing.

I am really hoping the author considers doing a book 4. Some parts of the book were left hanging. And I really want it to have a Gale-Katniss ending. Hahaha!

Now, I'm super excited to catch the movie! Here's a sneak peek. :)

Hunger Games

I bought the box set of Hunger Games Trilogy for my sister. I know I'm going to read it soon.

I bought it two or three months ago, I think. And it is only when the boyfriend asked if I have the books (and asked to borrow it), that I decided I should read it first to give a good recommendation to the boyfriend. Hahaha!

I started Saturday morning with the first book, and was done yesterday (Monday). I just can't seem to put the book down. It just gets more exciting as I move from chapter to chapter. I felt like I was in the Arena as well. Although, at first, I was trying to grasp the whole idea of "killing" tributes. I thought the book was all about brutality and all not-so-good-stuffs. Good thing I tried reading more pages, that's when I can't stop reading. :)

I'm almost halfway done with the 2nd book (Catching Fire), and I plan to bring the 3rd book to Boracay this weekend. I can't wait to finish, but also sad to end my short affair with Katniss, Gale and Peeta.

Are you looking for a good, entertaining book to read? I can recommend the Hunger Games Trilogy. Not my usual chick-lit/boy-meets-girl/rom-com book, but definitely a must-read. :)

Oh, and this will also be shown in the big screens in 2012. No huge expectations though, we know that great-books usually turn to blockbusters-but-not-so-good movies, right?

Idol Mo Ba Si Popoy?

Has everyone seen John Lloyd-Bea's One More Chance?

If you haven't, watch it first before reading on. :)

I got this from here.

When it comes to classic break-up movies, Cathy Garcia-Molina‘s One More Chance is a tough act to follow. Because when it comes to onscreen break-ups, Popoy (John Lloyd Cruz) and Basha (Bea Alonzo) have it locked down.
Especially when there are 10 solid reasons kung ba’t idol ng mga lalake si Popoy.

1. He suffers through the worst break up ever.
In One More Chance’s classic break-up scene, Popoy discovers that Basha’s car has broken down. And when he bails on a delicious Italian dinner to go pick her up, she breaks up with him.
Susunduin mo nga lang yung girlfriend mo brineakan ka pa. Bitch, you crazy.

2. Hindi siya nahihiya mag-breakdown.
After Basha breaks up with him, Popoy literally breaks down. Everywhere. In his bedroom. In his office. In the bar. Most men just breakdown at home. But Popoy takes it to the next level:everywhere.
3. Dahil ang tunay na lalake, walang abs.
In one of the final moments of Popoy and Basha’s relationship, they go for some last minute hanky panky. But as soon as Popoy throws off his shirt for some bedside manliness, we see that he isn’t the chiseled leading man we thought him to be. Kaya pala hindi pa siya nagco-cover ng Men’s Health.
But why get abs when you’ve got talent?
4. He gets both Bea Alonzo and Maja Salvador.
Even if Basha breaks up with you; there’s always Trisha (Maja Salvador). Last time I checked, she wasn’t too bad herself.
5. And what–if niya si Nikki Gil.
If you’ve got a bestfriend like Helen (Nikki Gil), then you really have nothing to worry about. Popoy’s got options. Lots of them.
6. At natataob pa rin niya si Derek Ramsay.
When Basha brings Mark (Derek Ramsay) to dinner with friends, you have to wonder if there’s something between the two. Because last time I checked, women don’t invite Derek Ramsayto dinner for his table manners.
But then again, Popoy uses his sheer lack of abs to woo Basha back. It takes two years, but hey, true love can wait.
7. Mumurahin ni Popoy yung ex-girlfriend niya at walang aangal.
Everyone has their own favorite lines from One More Chance. But one line trumps them all:
“Putangina naman Bash. Ganyan ka ba katigas?”
Because nothing feels better than telling an ex to fuck-off. And because last time ko ginawa ‘yun, binugbog ako ng mga kabarkado ko. Bros before hoes ‘yo!
8. He buys a new car with his ex-girlfriends money.
It’s hinted that Popoy and Basha had started a joint savings account while they were together. Suddenly, after the break-up, Popoy buys a new car. For himself.  Basha may not be able to afford Popoy’s broken heart, but she can sure as hell pay for his new ride.
9. He picks up his girlfriend and ex-girlfriend ON THE SAME TRIP.
There are easier ways to parade your hot new girlfriend, like say, changing your facebook profile to a really cheesy couple pic. Or tagging your ex with nude pics of your new girlfriend (that’s what I used to do).
But Popoy doesn’t need facebook. When he rescues Basha from the rain, he makes sure that Trisha is there to see how stupid she looks when he does.
10. And he ends up with Anne Curtis.
At ‘yan ang tunay na lalake.

Saw the full trailer's link through my best friend's FB.

Interesting story. Great cast.

QUOTABLE QUOTE from Carmi Martin:

Ang mundo ay isang malaking Quiapo. Madaming snatcher. Maagawan ka! Lumaban ka!

PAK! :)

Will you be watching this movie? :)

I will, definitely!

Movies to Watch (2011)

Sorry, these are not trailers or previews of movies to be shown this 2011.

These are movies I've been wanting to watch, but simply had no enough time.

I'm including these flicks in my bucket list for 2011.

I need to watch these movies before 2011 ends. And when I say watch, I really mean WATCH, from end to end! :)

Mind you, dears, there are still a LOT of movies I need to watch but I think it can spill over in my 2012. Hahaha!

Yet Another Movie Post

Remember last weekend I was able to download 11 movies and a couple of TV Series episodes?

Well, I'm still lucky to be having the same fast download speed. So, I continue my downloading mania. :)

This weekend, I focus on my local favorite films. Well, not all are my faves. Some of these I haven't seen yet and I'm looking forward to see these during my upcoming Boracay weekend. ;p

Have you seen any of these films? All are from Star Cinema, because I just love them! :)

How's your weekend so far? I had a tiring (but fun) Saturday. I'll have another post for this soon. And as I've posted in my FB, I'm (surprisingly) excited for Monday. Why? You'll know soon. ;p

Enjoy the rest of the day!

After Books, Movies.

My internet connection has really been cooperative this weekend.

Usually, it takes me almost the whole day to download a 700MB film. I am happy if my laptop's download speed is within the range of 40-70 mbps kbps.

Yesterday, it was going over a hundred. Whew!

So, I took advantage of the fast speed. (Thinking it might not last till next weekend. Hahaha!)

I asked a few for movie suggestions. Downloaded some of the suggested titles.

Just want to share what I have downloaded in almost 24 hours. :)

Tangled. Bridget Jones's Diary. Freaky Friday. Black Swan. Havoc. Brokeback Mountain. Dirty Dancing. The Tourist. Megamind.  My Amnesia Girl. The Parent Trap.

Latest episodes of CSI NY, Better With You, Cougar Town, Grey's Anatomy, CSI, No Ordinary Family, Modern Family.

From books to movie, this is just L-O-V-E. :)

How was your weekend, dear? :)

Free Movies, Anyone?

We've been lucky for having to watch 3 movies in the last 2 weeks.

Thank God for wonderful friends. :)

Sept 28. My friend, L, had two Powerplant movie tickets (for any movie) that is valid until the 30th. Knowing she will not be able to use the tickets, she asked who wanted it. Me, who does not pass up anything that will save me a few hundreds said "AKO!" before L finished her question.

X & I used the tickets to watch Wall Street. I wasn't able to watch the previous Wall Street, which might explain why I was bored with the movie. B-O-R-E-D. I even fell asleep during some parts of the movie (Well, I know this won't surprise some of my darling friends). Good thing we watched this for free. :)

Sept 5. M, my closest guy officemate had 2 premiere tickets for Eat, Pray, Love (EPL). He didn't want to watch it because he thinks it's a chick flick. Or that it might bore him to death. So, he gave it to me.

It was again X, who accompanied me to the premiere. He agreed to watch this with me because it's free. I know he didn't want to pay for an EPL ticket. Hahaha! I was kind of hesitant to watch the movie also because I was able to read the book. I got engrossed with the "Eat" and "Pray" parts of the book but found the "Love" part a bit dragging (this came as a surprise because I thought the love part would be the most fun and easy-to-read part for me). So, I wasn't expecting too much from the movie. You can say I was relieved when the credits were rolling because it was the longest 2.5 hours in my life. Yes, I admit, I fell asleep again in some parts.

My best friend, J, I think looks forward to the start of the month to download Nokia's OVI application. Why? Because if we download, we get to watch their featured film for free. In Greenbelt 3's MyCinema, no less.

October 9. We were surprised that only the 4 of us were inside the 50-seater cinema. Is Charlie St. Cloud really not a watch-able film that no one would dare watch even if it's FREE? We just let time pass, and it's as if nothing happened. We didn't even talk about the movie over our quick dinner. Was it really that bad? Hahaha!

Just wanted to share my latest movie treats. In case you have tickets to give away, you now know who you can share it with. :)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, dears.

P.S. My best friend, J, is insisting that I fell asleep during Charlie St. Cloud. I don't know, I was quite sure I was wide awake the whole time (well, trying so hard to keep my eyes open). What it is with movies and me sleeping? ;)
