Bloopers. Bloopers.

I've never heard so much bloopers in one night.

This resulted to nonstop laughs. Rolling over on the floor. Achy tummies.

While playing Blackjack (21)...
T: Bakit ba kailangan 21? Hindi ba puwede 23 or 25?

When someone showed her cards for a WIN, an Ace and a Jack (or was it a Q or K?)...
X: O bakit, un Jack ba puwede din na 20 un value?

Playing Trivial Pursuit...
How many years did Sleeping Beauty fall asleep under the spell?
Answer: 100 years
X: Si Sleeping Beauty ba un? Hindi ba si Snow White?
W: Hindi siya un. Pero natulog din siya, mas sandali nga lang.
X: Ah kasi, diba un elves sa paligid nya?
ALL: Elves???

5 Things I'm Thankful For #6

Now on my 6th entry on above subject.

I'm Thankful For...

1. LET (Leading in Excellence Training). Seriously, for allowing me to take a breather from the normal work-routine, and providing us (the participants) the experience to enjoy and learn at the same time.

2. X. For making me kilig without exerting an effort. For making me laugh. For making fun of my super-effective map-reading, making-directions, leading-the-way and finding-where-we-parked-the-car skills.

3. Fringe. I'm now on Season 1 Episode 5. So far, loving it! Thanks for an additional to-download & to-watch for series.

4. My Skills. For being able to practice my skills. For making someone happy.

5. Training Sessions (Fri & Sat). For allowing us to enjoy the free coffee in the pantry. hahaha!

Happy Friday!

Ang Sukli. Bow.

My sister and I were in a newly-opened convenience store in our village.

We bought snacks because we planned to do a Fringe marathon. (btw, finished one episode lang, malay ko bang 1 hr 20 mins per episode un. hahaha!)

Anyway, after paying the cashier, my change was supposed to be around Php390. Then the confused cashier asked me, "Ma'am puwede po ba kumuha na lang kayo ng ibang item kasi wala po akong barya?". So I asked, "Magkano ba un kulang sa sukli ko?" (I was willing to let go naman a peso or two, no problem with me), but she replied with "10 pesos po". 10???

Just so we can leave the store agad because I was really excited for Fringe, I picked two San Mig Coffee Sachets which was beside the cashier. 2 sachets were around 8-something worth. And the poor cashier, mukhang wala talaga kahit singkong duling na barya, gave me 3 pieces of Mentos candies as equivalent to the remaining change.

Nakakatawa lang db?

Visit UST Soon!

My sister and I were talking.

Roselle: Achi, dalawa na un Starbucks sa UST.
Me: Ah talaga? Didn't know nga na may isa na eh.
R: Sinabi ko na kaya un sayo dati.
M: San yung unang Starbucks?
R: Sa Dapitan
M: San sa Dapitan? Malapit sa Burger King?
R: Huh? San yung Burger King?

Gosh, I think I need to visit UST again and get re-acquainted with the nearby streets, Espana, Lacson, P.Noval and Dapitan.

Who wants to go with me? :)

The TV and Papa

There was TV technician a while ago in our living room. It was Papa who requested for the TV to be checked because watching TV is one of his pastimes, the other would be listening to AM radio in the mornings.

I remembered a few years back, when the purpose of our computer is only to do projects, school works, and not play games. When I didn't have yet a laptop or the other PC, during Sundays, we would always crowd in front of the TV to watch any TV show. We'd always ask Papa to switch back to Channel 2 or 7, because he ALWAYS wants to watch Tukaan Na, (a show on cockfighting).

We always end up winning and getting to watch the shows we wanted. However, Papa would not leave the sofa and would try to tease us by making funny and silly (and repetitive) comments. He'd criticize the celebrities, the show itself, and would always preempt what would happen next.

Here are his favorite lines. Through repetition, we all know this by heart na. We usually mimic him when we see these artistas.

(on Vina Morales) "Ang panget talaga mag-damit nyan"
(on Gary V) "O, buhay pa yan?"
(on Paolo Contis) "Ang yabang talaga nyan. Yan un sa 'Okidoki Dok' diba"
(on Mickey Ferriols) "Sabi sayo sisikat yan eh, marunong ako tumingin ng magaling eh"
(on Cesar Montano) "Wala na, lugi na un Singing Bee. Matatanggal na un."
(on ANY TV series) He's first tell what will happens next (usually just stating the obvious), then when it happens "Sabi sayo, ganon mangyayari eh. Dapat ako na lang director nyan eh"

We'd always smile when we hear these lines. Kahit paulit-ulit, nakakatawa lang.

And back to present day. I wonder, with me busy with my laptop. With my sister not home (but usually is busy with school work when at home), does Papa miss our kulitan in front of the TV?
New Year 2009
With our DIY backdrop. hahaha!

Well, me? I miss it.

Things That I Miss.

I had a couple of SMS exchange with my best friend earlier.

This got me into a senti mode.

I miss a lot of things.

I miss our rare get-together's.

I miss my other friends.

I miss the times we feasted on sizzling tofu and amaretto sour.

I miss the times we walked in QC just to claim our UAAP tickets.

I miss the times we cut class just to watch Feng Sui.

I miss hanging out in M's car during long breaks.

I miss our ranting and whining.

I miss eating ham, cheese and egg sandwich in the canteen before our Lab class start.

I miss going to computer shops just to chat.

I miss our biglaang lakad and being kaladkarin enough to join the fun.

I miss our group.

Aaargh!

I always say that or type that when I get frustrated and inis.

And that is how I'm feeling right now.

If I can just shout out loud, "AAAARGGHHH!", I'll do!

Haaaaaay, hoping for a wonderful and stress-free workweek ahead.

I hope you're all enjoying your Sunday so far. :)

3. You want to eat what everyone else is eating.

4. You don't bother cooking for one.

5. You don't get enough sleep.

6. You skip breakfast to save calories.

7. You think you have a slow metabolism, so you eat less.

The Marlboro eXperience

THE MARLBORO EXPERIENCE.

X was invited by the Marlboro to join a super fun-filled, exciting and thrilling event. He was also entitled to bring a +1, which explains my presence in the event. :)

When we heard about this, we were a bit hesitant to believe that it's really happening. We didn't join any contest, fill out an application form of some sort, but then they're saying We just want you to have The Marlboro eXperience.

Come July 31, we found ourselves in TGIF's having breakfast after we registered for the whole event.
That's not us. :)
After some welcome remarks, we were ushered to a coaster that will take us to a version of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, but this time a factory full of cigarettes and minus the Umpa Lumpa.
The RED team

It was a quick trip as we had road escorts (is that how you call these cops?). We were in Batangas in less than an hour.
That's Me & X on the third row
Another briefing was needed to inform us of the house rules, and the fun-filled activities we will be having the whole day.

We went for a plant tour (I have few pictures, which was provided by the event organizer), as we were not allowed to take pictures during the tour.
The Different Types of Tobaco (right?)
After the tiring yet very informative plant tour, we were treated to a sumptuous lunch buffet.

A briefing on the do's and don'ts of Karting and Remote Control (RC) Racing was held right after we had lunch.

We were all excited to head out the race track, the soft drizzles was not a hindrance to up our energy levels.
Complete gear, with raincoats on.
Our team first tried the RC Racing. When looking at it, it looked easy and boring. But believe me, when you're holding the controller, you'll be wildly running after your mini 4x4. It was super-fun!

Next stop was the race track. It was also my first time to try karting and I was a bit scared and excited at the same time. We were allowed to do a few laps for practice. While I was driving, I thought I was going too fast and was major scared that my kart will spin or something (Yeah, I know I'm really scared and paranoid). After driving, X told me that I wasn't that fast. "Ang bagal mo kaya!".
Here I Am!
Am I Really That Slow? :(
We can take home everything except the suit. :)

It was almost dinner time when we had the awarding. Too bad our team didn't win. But it was still a great experience to do the karting and RC racing.
More Giveaways!

You think that's all there was? You're wrong, we were again ushered to the coaster to go to Pontefino Hotel where we'll be staying.
The Room
After a few minutes of rest and relaxation, dinner came. Then we went to Alexie Bar & Resto to party! Bottomless Drinks. Overflowing Pica-picas. Live Performances. It surely was a great night!
But wait, there's more. We were shuttled back to our hotel to enjoy a good night (err, good morning) sleep. Breakfast was waiting when we went down the hotel lobby.

Come lunch time, it was time to say "Bye bye hotel".

Whew! So much fun, right?

And just when we thought it was over, I received a call from Marlboro asking for the correct spelling of my name, and where I wanted to have my giveaways delivered. Last Tuesday, I got these freebies!
More FREEBIES!

I hope you, too, can experience The Marlboro eXperience next time.

Thank you, Marlboro.

MMDA Rules

I don't bring a car to work. I don't usually drive. But I guess, I just want to help the MMDA share the latest news and rules for our dear motorists.

So if you want to know more about the MMDA's latest updates, new rules, coding exemptions, read on.

from the MMDA Website

What are the most recent rules on number coding (UVVRP), including changes per city/municipality? (Updated September 9, 2010)
  • The Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or Number Coding Scheme starts at 7:00 am - 7:00 pm with window hours starting from 10:00 am - 3:00 in the afternoon.
  • The cities of Makati and Las Piñas do not implement window hours. Thus, number coding is strictly implemented from 7:00 am - 7:00 pm.
  • The city of Pasig implements its window hour from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
  • However, the cities of Parañaque, Marikina, Taguig, and Muntinlupa do not implement the Number Coding Scheme.
  • In addition, the following areas in Pasay do not implement the Number Coding Scheme: Ninoy Aquino Ave., MIA Road, Domestic Road, Airport Road, Sales Road, and portions of Buendia.
  • Lastly, EDSA, C-5 Road, Diosdado Macapagal Avenue, and Roxas Boulevard are included in the implementation of Window Hours regardless of the city where they belong.
10 Things That Drivers Should Know
  • MMDA Enforcers are not allowed to group together while apprehending a motorist. They are not even allowed to stand together in groups of two (2) or more, except in actual times of special operations (e.g. apprehending groups of smoke-belching/colorum buses).
  • Swerving is not a traffic violation. It is defined as a movement wherein vehicles shift from a lane to another. However, it can be constitute the offense of reckless driving if it is done without precautions (e.g. swerving in an abrupt and careless manner, swerving without the use of signals).
  • A driver's license cannot be confiscated by a Traffic Enforcer during traffic apprehensions except on the following situations:
  • Private Vehicles are not allowed to use the yellow lane except when they are about to turn Ð provided that they start shifting lanes upon seeing the transition lane (broken white lines painted diagonally), that you can see around 50 meters away from an intersection. However, selective apprehension of private vehicles using the yellow lane is highly prohibited.
  • The yellow lanes (1st and 2nd lanes in EDSA) are only for City Buses. City Buses are not allowed to go beyond the yellow lanes. If they do so, they will be apprehended for violating the yellow lane policy.
  • Provincial buses are also not allowed to use the yellow lane. Instead, they are encouraged to use the third lane.
  • Each Traffic Enforcer has his/her own written mission order issued by the MMDA Central Admin. Apprehended drivers are free to ask for the apprehending officer's mission order, which includes his area of responsibility, time of duty, official function. It also indicates whether or not the enforcer is authorized to issue tickets.
